On Wednesday 5th June, The All-Party Parliamentary Group on British Muslims organised a historic event and brought ‘The Big Iftar’ to Parliament with the breaking of fast taking place at Speaker’s House hosted by The Speaker, Rt Hon. John Bercow MP.
The evening welcomed the rich diversity of British Muslim communities from across the country, and guests from other religious communities. Members of both Houses, leading figures in the charitable and voluntary sectors, celebrated British Muslims from the fields of business, sport, media, the arts and academia and many other sectors.
Keynote speeches were given by the Home Secretary, the Rt Hon. Sajid Javid MP, and the Shadow Home Secretary, Rt Hon. Diane Abbott MP, Co-chairs of APPG on British Muslims including Anna Soubry MP and West Streeting MP.
